I enjoy learning about different cultures through extensive travel. The picture left was taken in Bhutan and the ones below are from Rajasthan, India.
I am a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist.
I began my career as a school psychologist after
having earned an M.A. in clinical and school
psychology. After working for a number of years
in the schools with children from infancy through
high school, I returned to school and earned a Ph.D.
in clinical psychology through the Fielding Graduate
University, then completed a two-year post-doctoral
program in clinical neuropsychology through the same
educational institution.
Having worked in the schools for many years, I have had the opportunity to experience many educational settings and have had the unique challenge in working with children with many specialized handicapping conditions, as well as with children who have learning differences and disabilities, low incident disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other conditions which adversely affect learning and social behavior.
I obtained my predoctoral supervised experience at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California. I received training in individual, couple, and group counseling for inpatient and outpatients services. I worked in outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, at Concern Employee Assistance Program, and inpatient psychiatry. Prior to my predoctoral experience I was certified as a drug and alcohol counselor through CAADAC and NAADAC and had previously completed an advanced training program through the University of California at Santa Cruz in Drug and Alcohol Counseling as well as having worked at San Jose Hospital in the Phoenix inpatient program. Additionally, I earned certification as an Employee Assistance Professional and obtained certification in clinical hypnotherapy.
I obtained my post-doctoral supervised experience at Kaiser-Permanente in Santa Clara, California, where I served as a therapist for drug groups, codependency groups, and for parents of teenagers who were addicted to drugs or alcohol. I also served as a therapist for individual patients. Additionally, I lectured on substance addiction and conducted diagnostic psychological evaluations for the adult psychiatry department in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
I began a private practice in 1985 because I wanted to offer my unique background of experiences and skills to children and adults in the broader community.
Each client is special to me and assessments are tailored to the individual in order to answer the questions that are posed. I am able to refer the client, whether a child or an adult, to appropriate treatment facilities or appropriate individuals who possess the skill and experience necessary to meet the needs that have been identified.
I hold the following licenses and certifications:
• Licensed Psychologist PSY13284
• Licensed Educational Psychologist LEP1533
• Licensed Marriage. Family. Child Counselor MFC20980
• Nationally Certified School Psychologist
• Diplomate, American Board of Professional Neuropsychology
